  • venue and date booked!

woohoo.  having to drive down there on a weeknight to turn in the app and deposit in person was a PITA…good thing the wonderful bear did it!  and good thing he has a motorcycle…boo to la traffic!

the clarke estate.  in early august.  EEK.  time to start getting my planning butt into gear after this weekend.  so the rental fee’s not that cheap unless you are a resident, since it is a city-owned property.  time to find a very reasonable caterer.  good news is we can bring in our own alcohol…bevmo/costco/[whatever local wine shop that delivers & sets up bars & alcohol & allows returns], here we come!

met with the boss woman today.  if i put in about 50-60 hour work weeks (i know this is small beans for some of you out there) until the end of the year, i’ll have a lovely extra bonus on top of my normal one that i can put toward our wedding fund, but i’ll have very little time to plan. she said it’s up to me, but that it will benefit our profitability as a company immensely.  what to do, what to do.

anyway, more pix of the venue.  excuse the grey skies and retirement party setup pictured.

like any good Modernist, i <3 red & white

i also <3 bamboo.  however, i do not <3 trellises or terra cotta planters.  it’s ok, no one else will care.

lovely architecture – the perfect blend of california spanish wanna-be, Modern, and white cube for me.  BUT…not for everyone.

again, love the weird shade of red that accents the otherwise all white & grey house.

the ceremony lawn.  i think i’d rather get married under the trees + bamboo than in front of the white trellis.  we shall see…

part of the large ‘reception’ lawn

sorta lame-o random pool i’ll have to dress up fabulously.  lounge area?  floating girly crap in there like flowers and candles that i make fun of but would love to do?  perhaps…budget says…???

see?  told you it’s not for everyone.  unless you like boxy, plain, and white like i do.

unexpected embellishment…where i will be starting my walk down the aisle.

    cute photo op.

another cute photo op.  red door peeking out from the arch in the distance!  trellis like structure that is clean and unfussy!
